Students performing exceptionally well in academics will receive the following awards :-

Awards Holder
Gold Medal Topper in PGDM(AFB)
Silver Medal Second Topper in PGDM9AFB)
Bronze Medal Third Topper in PGDM(AFB)
Certificate of Merit Topper in each Specialization

In case, more than one student score the same marks, each of them will get the Medal and the Certificate of Merit. Only those marks which are secured in the first attempt without a backlog will be counted for the purpose of the award. The Awardees will be decided at the end of first year and at the end of final year examinations for overall Meritorious Awards (Medals as mentioned above). Thus, there is an opportunity for a person to receive two medals.

Academic Rank Holders

The top ranking five students from each specialization, in addition to the Medalist, will receive Merit Holder Certificate at the end of each year and this can be mentioned in the curriculum-vitae at the time of Campus Placements.

Co-Curricular Awards

"Students excelling in different spheres of activities will be recognized by the Institute and felicitated in public. The following awards are also available for the deserving students".

  • Corporate award from a reputed company for Best Enterprising Student
  • Saatmya Trophy for the most society oriented student
  • Director's Best all rounder award
  • Trophy for Best Attendance Record
  • Trophy for Best Academic Record
  • Most Creative Student of the year
  • Best Class Representative award
  • Gentleman student of the year
  • Lady student of the year
  • Best Volunteer of the year

The award will not be based on academics performance only although the same will also be one of the deciding factor. The individual's contributions to the class and the Institute coupled with his / her conduct will be taken into account.

The Leadership Award

This prestigious award will be given by director for the student who has shown immense leadership potential during his stay with AFMI.

Grievances Committee

The committee functions independently and its recommendations will be binding on everyone in AFMI including the Governing Body. The President and Vice-President of the Students' Council will constitute the first tier of the Grievance Committee.

Appreciation / Complaints from Companies

The students will be required to interact with the managers during various workshops/seminars/training activities. They are also required to work in the Industry for the Internship/Projects as mentioned in the foregoing paragraphs. It should be noted that the students are the 'Brand Ambassadors' of the Institute. They are the opinion makers in their companies. While the appreciation from the company will promote the Institute and thereby the cause of the students; the negative reports from them will work against the interest of the student community at large.

Therefore, any complaint received from the companies or the Guest Faculties will attract severe disciplinary action against the students. One such action could be that the concerned student will be placed in the 'Red List'. It implies that he / she will not be allowed to sit for the Campus Placements.

CLASS CO-ORDINATION AND CLASS DISCIPLINE

Class discipline will be maintained strictly. Each class will have two students who will be selected as class representatives and another two who will be a part of the Institute's Discipline Committee. They will report to the Professor-in-Charge on a day-to-day basis and where necessary directly to the Director. Students who have any problem or grievance can also directly approach the Professor-in-Charge/Director/Students' Council/Grievances Committee. All the issues related to academics in the institute may be referred to the Director, Director (Academics) or Dean and issues related to examinations will be referred to the Director (Examination). Students can meet the Director / Directors of Trust and the President of Saatmya Trust on any issue with prior appointment.

ATTENDANCE

Attending classes and learning in the class through the learned faculties is a critical step towards growth and development of students, as the skills required by the Industry are taught and to be learned in a systematic and progressive manner in the class rooms. Consistency in attendance is, therefore, a pre-requisite. Absence from class leads to discontinuity in learning and defeats the very approach of progressive learning, as the subjects are inter-connected and missing one session may lead to confusion when the next session is being conducted.

Consequently, it is not only difficult but may also put those students under tremendous pressure and in a helpless situation leading to stress, frustration and depression. This is particularly so because while a student studies about six subject per year in their graduation course they have to study more than ten subjects for trimester in our Institute. We have come across quite a few cases of such students becoming psychiatric cases because of the pressure on them. Therefore, attending classes regularly is a requirement of any student who joins a good management institution. Similarly, studying at home/hostel everyday regularly will lead to expected growth and development of students.

We plan to hold our training / classes for 365 days in an year. We do not believe in the concept of the holidays. Each and every class is critical for learning in a continuous manner. Therefore, no request on the account of medical grounds for exemption from attendance will be accepted. Parents are advised to please understand the medical problems of the children who have a medical history and not to encourage them to take up our stressful management programmes which are very hectic in nature and are held for prolonged hours throughout the year because such students undergo lot of peer pressure and tension leading to possible depression. They are also unable to focus on studies and are in a fix of not being in a position to express their difficulties either to the parents or to the management, as the requirement of the learning process is stringent in nature and cannot be changed.

A minimum of 80% attendance is compulsory. Those who maintain 95% of attendance will be awarded an attendance incentive of 5 marks per subject. Those who fail to give 80% of attendance will be placed in 'Red List' and may not be allowed to appear in the examination. However, this should not disturb the minds as the permissible limit of absence is 20% in each semester and if one calculates the total days on which one can legitimately be absent from the classes on account of sickness or other important contingencies will be more than 20 days in a year provided they attend classes regularly. To be away from the class for casual reasons or carelessness and then to remain absent on account of medical ground or other contingencies cannot be justified because in a professional course training will have to be undergone. It is not a matter of writing examination, it is more and that of conditioning the mind, body and system.

DISCIPLINE

Students are trained for bright future corporate careers through various scientific grooming processes which also involves healthy lifestyles. The word 'Discipline' for us imply adherence to civilised life following the code of conduct. Therefore, strict discipline will be an essential part of the training process and the defaulters will be dealt with appropriately.

For example:-

  • Mishaps involving students driving two-wheelers have reported in the past in this city just like in other parts of the country. It could have perhaps been avoided, had those students were wearing good crash helmets. Therefore, wearing of crash helmets by the students riding two-wheelers and by pillion riders is compulsory. Students violating this rule will be fined with Rs 100/- in the first instance and more stringent punishment will be taken on subsequent incidents. The fine thus collected will go to 'Students Party Fund’.
  • Attending of mobile phone during classes is strictly prohibited. Incase a student attending the mobile to the class a sum of Rs. 1000/- will be fined. Parents are advised to call their children at night after the class hours but before 10 pm.
  • Silent hours will be maintained in the hostel after 12.00 pm. Mobiles should be switched off after that. This is also to ensure that the other room-mates in the hostel are not put to inconvenience. Cluster Friends and Friends of the Floor will ensure the same and report about those who violate the rule.
  • All the students are expected to be in their room by 10:00 pm. Late night parties or loitering around at odd hours, on any account both inside the Campus and even outside is not allowed
  • Students are expected to behave well like gentlemen and gentle ladies not only in the classrooms, but also through out their stay with us, even when they are in their private rooms. We demand decent life style including maintenance and up-keep of the rooms.
  • Students are expected to be dressed smartly and to follow the dress code meant for various occasions. Students are also expected to carry at least one pair of their traditional dress. Traditional dress means those dresses, which one generally wears according to his / her region, religion, customs and traditions, on festive occasions.
  • Students are not allowed to go out of station without taking permission from Director. If any student has to be away from his / her room or want to go out of station for any personal reason, he / she should take written permission from the Director. Permission for that is a must and that will be granted subject to parents' request to the Director which should be done through a fax followed by a call at least 3 days in advance. The Director, in turn, will properly verify the request and may or may not recommend the 'Night out Pass' to the Rector of the Hostels. However, Night-outs will be restricted to the bare minimum, say once in three months. Nomination of the local guardian, if any, should be made by parents through a letter to be addressed to the Director at the time of admission
  • Ragging of any kind is strictly prohibited. Anyone indulging in ragging will be dealt with 'Zero Tolerance' and will be expelled as this has been prescribed as a minimum punishment by the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court has also categorically mentioned that harassing fresher physically and mentally will be booked by the Police, expelled from the college and also denied future admission. Therefore, no one should allow others to rag them. If any one tries to rag any student the same should be reported immediately to the Director.

CAMPUS DISCIPLINARY RULES

Besides, the norms mentioned in the foregoing paragraphs the following instructions should be abide by all students:-

  • No students will be allowed to enter the class/knock at the door or leave the class once the faculty is in the classroom.
  • Students are not permitted to ask for breaks during the lecture sessions.
  • Students must not request the faculty for cancellation of lectures. Peeping into classrooms, signaling by gestures etc. while the lectures is in progress by the students are acts of misconduct.
  • Smoking in campus is strictly prohibited; however, it can be done in designated area.
  • Absence from test/exams/tutorials and non-submission of assignments in time will make a student ineligible for internal assessment. No excuse will be entertained.
  • Students should be dressed orderly. Slippers, jeans, T-shirts etc. are not allowed in the academic block.
  • Students should keep themselves abreast of the day-to-day activities of the Institute and abide by all communications put on the notice board.
  • Students should behave and conduct themselves, as expected from future managers.
  • Writing graffiti on the walls of the campus is an act of indiscipline. Such acts will attract severe punishment.
  • Disrespect or discourtesy to guests, faculty and office staff will be considered as an act of indiscipline.
  • Misbehavior, late coming, disobedience, absenteeism, consumption of drugs and alcohol, malpractice, cheating in the examination shall attract disciplinary action.
  • The Director is empowered to impose fine for misconduct on the part of any student as and when warranted and justified. The fine so collected will be utilized for welfare activities.

RED LIST : WHAT IS IT ?

  • All the indisciplinary cases may be placed in the "Red List" at the discretion of the Director.
  • Any negative report received by the Institute from the Company where the student may be doing "Internship or Project Studies" may result in the student in being placed in the "Red List".
  • Students receiving advances from the office for co-curricular activities should furnish the accounts expeditiously failing which they may be placed in the "Red List".
  • Red Listed students may be disqualified from appearing in the examinations. They will be not be allowed for the Campus Placements.

MEDICAL FITNESS

The college offers only O.P.D. Medical Facilities to the students at stipulated time. Student having medical problems should use this facility to the best.

Students are not prevented from going to any Doctor/Hospital if they feel so. However, even in such cases, they should update the institute doctor for validation of the treatment offered and to prevent exploitation where necessary.

Students are not prevented from going to any Doctor/Hospital if they feel so. However, even in such cases, they should update the institute doctor for validation of the treatment offered and to prevent exploitation where necessary.

Any medical emergencies if and when arise are likely to be managed as in hospital basis (Hospitalization). Students in Medical distress are expected to take care of themselves supported by their roommates if they are non-hostilities. If brought to the notice of the institute, the institute will render all the assistance as required and possible but the hospitalization charges will have to be ultimately met by the students/parents.

SUBMISSION OF SUBMISSION OF DEGREE CERTIFICATES

Students should submit the certified mark sheets of the qualifying degree examinations latest by 1st October 2008 failing which the admission may be cancelled automatically. In case any University has not declared the result until then the Principal of the College where the student has studied should personally write to the Director of the Institute explaining the correct situation and the Director will take appropriate action. In case the student fails in the qualifying degree examination, the admission will be cancelled. No fee refund will be permissible in such cases.

Laptops :-

At, AFMI each and every student has its own laptop. The laptops, loaded with Windows XP operating system, have all the latest standard software packages required by a student in his/her daily academic life. Laptops not only enhance their general computing skills but will also help them to work on their projects, assignments or paper presentations with much ease. With this facility the students will no longer spend late hours in the institute’s computer dromes, instead, they can work in the comfort of their residence.

Future Leaders-not students :-

AFMI admits leaders not students. They will enjoy all professional rights as required to enable them to realize their dreams in a free, frank and fearless atmosphere. AFMI is run like a corporate entity; therefore, admitted are expected to behave in a mature manner just like manager, Leader and Entrepreneur. Focused objective, smart work and complete devotion will lead to realization of positive dreams and achievement of goals.
